Feedback:
I had a very good experience using Wikipedia. I contributed to a page about Assistive Technology. On March 12, 2009, I made my first contributition, which I added more to the definition of AAC and included a statement relating to Autism. Also, on March 12, 2009, I added a Technology-Related Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities Act of 1988 (Public Law 100-407) definition of Assistive Technology. Finally, on March 29, 2009, I added specific examples of the different types of systems in Assistive Technology.
I was very happy with my edit because it was not taken down or changed. Others have edited the same page after I made contributions and my posts were still there. I believe that my posts were not taken down because they were contributions that are from an accredited resource. Also, I explained the edits I made and what I changed to the page. With the explanations, other editors were able to understand my reasoning and choices and contributions to the page.

Blog 13/14 - Users and Elements (Discussion in class)
Update: 3/29/09
After discussing the structures of a website in class, I learned that due to my audience the best structures would be either linear (with nodes) or an outline. My website is going to be targeted towards parents and teachers, whom may not be completely comfortable with technology. Also, they may want to find specific information fast and in a way that is convinient for them. I think it is important for me to allow my audience to allows know their way back and forth throughout the website and be able to use the website for information in a way that benefits them.
I have limited my choices from chapter 6 & 7 to the following structures and elements. In Blog 11, I mentioned that I wanted there to be categories and links relevant to that category, regarding my audience. For example, a section for parents, teachers, and ect. I also want other sections that deal with all three audiences. When clicking on a link, I still want the user to be in the same window, with the option of going home, or clicking on another navigation link.
Structures:
Linear (with nodes)
Outline
Hub and Wheel
Elements:
-Navigation Bar
-Search Engine
-Forward/backward, up/down, previous/next
-Table of Contents

Blog 12 - Wikipedia post
I made my post to Wikipedia today. I edited the page titled Assistive Technology.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assistive_technology
I was a little nervous at first when editing the post, but I became comfortable when my post wasn't deleted. I hope that my information met the requirments. During my edit, I added the The Technology-Related Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities Act of 1988 (Public Law 100-407) definition of Assistive Technology, as well as contributing to the section titled Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). In that section, I added more to the definition of AAC and added a statement about Autism.
These are the links I used to contribute my edit.

Blog 11 - Audience, purpose, & focus (Research Project)
Topic: Assistive Technology for Autism
Research Question: How have computer games affected the skills of children with Autism?
Audience: Parents, teachers, and therapists, who are on the computer, at home, school, or work.
Purpose: To gain knowledge about the benefits and concerns of computer games in helping children with Autism enhance their learning, social, and personal skills.
Consequences: The text on the website should be user-friendly. It should be very descriptive and include examples of specific ways that computer games have helped children with Autism. There should also be pictures of children engaging in the computer games. Due to the audience, I want to have clear differential categories for parents, teachers, and therapists. In the categories, the interested party can find information about ways that the topic of computer games with Autism can help them. For example, teachers might want to see a section regarding how the usage of computer games with Autism has enhanced learning skills in the classroom. Also, there should be a section of a list of certain computer games that have been proven to be effective.
Examples of sites:
http://www.autismteachingtools.com/page/bbbbgt/bbbbgz - This website has links to sites that provide specific games for children with Autism. Also, I like the design of the light colored puzzle piece design that says Autism Teaching Tools.
http://www.healthykids.us/ - This site has great colors and pictures as links to more information. I want to have pictures like this on my site.
http://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/autism/actearly/autism.html - This site has categories on the side and links relating to each category, which is exactly what I am looking for. Also, when you click on the link, it keeps you in the same page and doesn't take you to another site. I want this type of layout for my site as well because it is not hard to navigate, you always stay on one page without opening another window, and it gives specific categories.
